So I'm pretty convinced that all scripted network television is unwatchable.
HBO and Showtime know what's up.
You can watch any show on either channel and its probably been nominated and/or won an award.
Dexter, Boardwalk Empire, The Big C, Game of Thrones, Nurse Jackie, True Blood....the list goes on.
Game of Thrones is the newcomer on the scene, ending it's second season this coming Sunday. This show is my new obsession. Seriously. After watching the first season I was hooked. So knowing that the show is based on books I immediately bought the first book in the series by George R.R. Martin. I have never in my 28 years read a book and watched it play out on screen scene for scene and word for word. AMAZING!!! I've been so disappointed with adaptations in the past that I'm brought to tears when I see what I saw in my mind alive and breathing on the screen. I'm so excited for the show and books! Hopefully when season three starts I will be halfway through the third book.
My new half hour show on HBO is Girls. It is Sex and The City for young women today. It's not Manolos and Berkins. It's more like, Tom's and Garbage bags. And I love it. There's a Neurotic writer, an ADHD virgin, a free spirited Brit, an uptight best friend, and the boys they kiss. Oh wait, I think that IS Sex and the City, LoL.
I've tried watching "Regular TV" shows and it's abyssmal. I mean really wretched. Think of stinky cheese covered in melodrama and dipped in bad acting. There you have every show not on cable.
Thank God for HBO and Showtime!
